The miracle of Life

Dear Journal,

Isn’t it wonderful to feel the miracle of Life? Isn’t it fabulous to think that at the slightest cut, my body knows how to repair itself and heal? My bones know, if they are broken, how to knit back together. My immune system detects, on several levels, all potential aggressors in order to eliminate them and keep my home in good condition. My body knows how to spread air through the billions of cells that make me up. It knows how to transform, absorb and digest the food the Earth offers us. This genius fascinates me.

Frankly, the workings of my body and its capacity for self-repair seem so much more complex than most of the personal problems that sometimes clutter my mind. As if everything had been planned for me to move forward serenely, with the presence of an intelligence beyond my mental understanding. In fact, I feel my mind settle as I become aware of this magnificent plan of evolution, this search for balance playing out silently in the background. I feel safe, and free.

Completely free to connect with who I came here to be. No longer a slave to my thoughts. In fact, I realised how much my thoughts were running my life. The intensity of their power over my moods, my reality, my anxiety. And that cannot be controlled; it can be mastered. I believe that is where humankind’s creative power lies: in mastering thought. There is a saying that energy follows thought; I am convinced that one day this circle will become virtuous for humanity…

In the words of Mr Einstein: “There are only two ways to see life: one as though everything is a miracle, the other as though nothing is a miracle.” Personally, I love this thought of Albert’s. It seems essential to me to be aware of this miracle and to honour it. Life is not really under threat; humankind fortunately does not have that power. But biodiversity is, and humankind is responsible for that. One day, I know that honouring the miracle of Life will become a shared thought, something obvious. Then this world will change: we will love one another and we will rise.
